Top 25 Most Culturally Affluent Companies
I’m compiling a list that comprises the Top 25 most Culturally Affluent Companies in the world today. On the whole, I’m looking at companies that have made a diverse impact (not just having something on paper, but actually influencing the way people think and feel) on multiple fronts such as products, media, social trends, environmental trends, technology, services, etc.
The truth is, this should be easy for most people to do. Corporations such as Google, Apple, ING, Home Depot, IBM, and Toyota are all good examples; companies that have made a significant impact on the way we live our everyday lives and that have transcended basic economics to actually impact the world around us on a variety of fronts.
As I make my list over the next week or so, feel free to use this forum to list your thoughts and ideas on the subject.
Thanks!
Matt

It would be hard to pick a particular movie studio, but movies clearly have a privileged position when it comes to cultural influence. (On the other hand, maybe it wouldn’t be hard to pick a particular studio: Disney is an obvious choice, especially because of its influence on kids.)
It bends my brain to think of it as cultural *affluence*, but Fox (News) might be one to consider.
I’d argue that Amazon ought to be a strong contender as what amounts to the flagship of the concept of online retail.
