Google has been moving in the direction of an open source web friendly operating system for years, but with the current movement in internet culture toward a more all encompassing cloud computing type model, all the fruits of Googles labors seem to be coming to a head. With the announcement of Google Chrome OS on their blog in June, Google is taking a sizable step toward competing with Microsoft for the future of personal computing.
It’s an interesting battle to be sure, and is just one more piece of a neverending puzzle that has taken years to unveil itself. Is Google Chrome the future of computing? And how will this affect us in the years ahead? Thoughts?
