Google Motorola Droid 2.0 Commercials Part 1

I’ve been paying a little attention to the commercials for the Google Droid phones this past week, and I have to say, the ad campaign that Google has been running for Droid in the last few months has been impressive. Kind of an old meets new approach combining some of the best feature ads of the modern Apple ads with those of the early, “revolutionary” ads that launched Apple in the 1970s. So while the ads aren’t exactly groundbreaking, they do address the similarities between the two brands and pretty much hit you over the head with their differences.

That said, the Droid is definitely something new, and like the early 80′s PC, with its open ended design and ability to be ported to several different devices, it has the ability to make a large impact on a market, that until this point, has been very proprietary.

With the exclusion of applications, most of the reviews I’ve read of the Droid have given it comparable if not better marks than the Apple IPhone. That said, within a few years we could easily find ourselves drawing lines in the sand around these products.

While Apple has indeed built a loyalist market, much as Sony had in the 90′s, there is more than enough room for both of these devices, and the Droid could easily compete for a market share, if not market dominance, given time.
